Eyebrow tinting at home – the right way to prepare
An expensive visit to the beauty salon is not an absolute necessity if you want to give your eyebrows the look you prefer. With the right preparation and the appropriate tools, you can tint your eyebrows quite easily at home. You need to watch out for a few things to achieve the precise result you want.
To ensure the tint lasts as long as possible, it is important to remove all traces of make-up and oil on the skin before tinting your eyebrows. Your daily, oil-free make-up-remover or micellar water is suitable for this. Finally, we recommend that you apply a rich moisturiser like Vaseline to the area around your eyebrows so no unsightly spots of dye get onto your skin. You should pluck your eyebrows after tinting because then it is easy to assess what your eyebrows look like with the new shade and which shape goes best with the new look. In addition, when you’ve tinted your eyebrows, it’s easier to see the tiny hairs, so they’re easier to pluck afterwards.

How to tint your eyebrows: your dream brows, step by step
If you tint your eyebrows with a ready-made kit, you should bear in mind which tools it contains. Most include tinting gel, developing lotion, one or two little brushes to apply the gel and a small container for mixing. If any of these items are not contained in the set, it is advisable to get hold of an alternative. In addition, we recommend you have cotton buds and cotton pads, as well as Vaseline and tweezers at the ready. If you have a particular shape in mind, it is also worth considering using a stencil, so that the tint winds up in the right places. As soon as you’ve got everything together that you need, you can start to tint your eyebrows:
Step 1: First up, you should, as described above, cleanse your eyebrows and apply moisturiser to the surrounding skin.
Step 2: Now mix the tint, following the instructions that come with the pack.
Step 3: With a clean eyebrow brush, you can now apply the tint in the direction of growth of your eyebrow hairs. To achieve as natural a result as possible, begin on the outer edges of your eyebrows and work inwards. Make sure all the hairs are covered with the tint. To ensure no traces of dye remain on the skin after tinting, you should remove any superfluous dye with a clean cotton bud.
Step 4: Follow the instructions on the pack for the amount of time to leave the tint on. Eyebrow tinting usually takes five to ten minutes. The following generally applies: the longer you leave the tint on, the darker or more intense the result.
Step 5: Finally, remove the tint with a damp cotton pad and clean your face with soap. Make sure you start with the eyebrow to which you applied the tint first.
Important
Usually, the tint continues to darken a little, so you should wait a while before you decide whether you like the result or want to apply more tint.

Eyebrow tinting – here’s how to find the right shade for you
To find the right shade for your eyebrows, it is advisable to initially orient your choice on your natural hair colour. If you choose a shade that is just a few tones darker than your natural hair, you’ll get a natural result that saves you having to redraw your eyebrows in the morning. Bear in mind the fact that you always have the option of tinting your eyebrows again. As such, it is better to begin with a lighter shade and take baby steps towards darker shades.
Having said that, there are essentially no limits to your choice of suitable shade. With eyebrow tinting, you can let your creativity run free and create individual looks. So, if you like to experiment, you can plump for unusual shades and shapes, just as you can with hair. Before tinting, simply find out whether the right products are available at the chemist’s or whether it would be better to have your eyebrows tinted by an expert.
Tip
To be certain you can tolerate the tint in the eyebrow kit, you can easily do an allergy test. Apply a sample of the tint to an inconspicuous part of your body 48 hours before tinting your eyebrows. If no redness has appeared after two days, you can go ahead with the tinting.
