Face toner has many names. It is also referred to as tonic or simply toner. But no matter what name it goes by, it is supposed to do one thing in particular: To simultaneously clean and nourish the skin on your face. The fresh kick is an added bonus. Face toner combines two worlds in one product and effortlessly achieves a balance between fresh cleaning and easy skin care. How does face toner work on your skin?

The main effect a face toner has is based on its natural properties. Face toner is intended to remove dead skin and other build-up from the skin on the face, neck and décolleté. Due to its watery consistency, the best way to apply face toner is with a cotton wool pad. However, face toner also has additional effects that benefit your skin:

How to use face toner

It can take several minutes to apply face toner correctly. This gives you time to properly relax. Soak a cotton wool pad in your face toner of choice and gently wipe the pad over the skin on your face, neck and décolleté. You will feel the beneficial effects with each stroke. Usually, face toner is simply left on your skin. The exception to this is micellar water, which forms a light foam and should therefore be rinsed off with clean water.

A face toner for impure skin contains additional cleansing substances, such as tea tree oil. It removes grease from the skin to reduce blemishes. That is why such face toners are not always suitable for dry skin. Generally, a face toner helps your skin to absorb additional nourishing ingredients. Therefore, you should always apply your normal facial care products after using face toner.
