Rough leather meets passionate patchouli
Born in 1740, the aristocrat Marquis de Sade made a name for himself primarily through his disreputable novels. Gérald Ghislain, perfumer and head of Histoires de Parfums, captures the character of the infamous Frenchman in 1740 Marquis de Sade Eau de Parfum Spray. Like all fragrances in the Characters fragrance line, the 1740 Marquis de Sade Eau de Parfum Spray comes in a bottle and outer packaging that resemble a book cover, so that the bottles can be placed on the side of a bookshelf. The perfume is based on a base of rough leather, which is joined by warm cedar and birch wood and creamy ladan resin. The heart note lends the creation a hot-blooded, oriental tone with patchouli, which is emphasised by spicy cardamom and coriander. The top note loosens up the fragrance with bergamot and is given a refreshing herbal nuance by mugwort.Contents
