Houbigant Fragrances

Houbigant is an historically significant perfume house from Paris that was established way back in 1775 and has its current headquarters based in Monaco. The company was established by Jean Francois Houbigant, who originally only sold perfumes, gloves and bridal flower arrangements under the brand name. The products were extremely popular, particularly with the French upper class, meaning therefore that its typical customers included the likes of Queen Marie Antoinette of France. After his death, the company remained in his family’s hands and was taken over by his son, who was soon to be appointed as Napoleon’s personal perfumer.

The fragrances of the great and good

After having managed to mesmerise the Queen and Napoleon with its fragrances, Houbigant was then also appointed as the perfumer for Queen Victoria of England and the Princess of Orleans. Even Tsar Alexander III received supplies of the luxurious perfume. Since then of course, the fragrances for men and women are freely available and are wonderfully popular due to their unique nuances. Older flaçons by the brand are extremely rare collector’s items that have a high value and are sold in auctions all over the world.
