Ambre sultan by Serge Lutens does not fit into any pigeonhole - and this alone makes it a true Lutens. The fragrance could easily be described as an oriental creation based on its ingredients, but the founder of the Parisian label takes special care to ensure that the unisex fragrances are labelled as Arabic fragrances, if at all. Even then, the eau de parfum spray does not really fit into a prefabricated box, but is an absolute one-off, which fits in wonderfully with Serge Lutens' range of unisex fragrances. The fragrance comes in a 50 ml bottle in vibrant yellow colour nuances and a round, spherical cap.

Arabic fragrances - not just for the sultan

As the name of the eau de parfum spray suggests, Ambre sultan is all about amber. Perfumer Christopher Sheldrake, who realised the creation, also relies on many other active ingredients that give this perfume its unmistakable scent. Serge Lutens once said that the idea for this creation came to him at a bazaar, but only after he had forgotten a scented wax in a wooden box for a long time. This then developed a very distinctive scent of its own, which has been further refined in this eau de parfum spray.

Unisex fragrances - perfect for men and women

The Ambre sultan creation is characterised by amber, but essences such as coriander, benzoin, angelica root and labdanum are also used. The scents of bay leaf and myrtle can also be clearly detected. The creation is rounded off with oregano, sandalwood, styrax and tolu balsam. In the background, a gentle and very soft note of vanilla can be recognised throughout, which makes this fragrance so unique and skilfully sets it apart from other oriental or Arabian fragrances. Because even if the creation does not fit into any category, this is its greatest strength of all.

In order for men's perfume to really come into its own, it is always sprayed very sparingly and directly onto the skin. The chosen fragrance is quickly released through body heat. If you use a spray bottle, the distance should be around 20 cm. The fine spray mist is not rubbed off and dries on the skin. As the spray mist rises from the bottom upwards, the skin is always perfumed from the bottom upwards. Ideally, the body should be prepared with an odourless body lotion before perfuming. The fragrances in the men's perfume will cling to the lipids in the lotion, ensuring a longer-lasting fragrance experience.
