The wick is shortened to a length of 3 to 5 mm before the first use to limit soot formation. The candle should burn for at least 2 hours each time it is used so that the top layer of wax can completely liquefy. This is the only way to prevent tunnelling in the wax. The enclosed plastic lid can be used to close the candle when not in use for longer periods.

Scented candles are very easy to use, but a few factors greatly improve the burning behaviour and safety. Always place the scented candle on an even surface in a windless place and away from flammable materials. Before lighting, you should also shorten the wick to around 5 mm.
