Emphasising the eyes is one of the oldest make-up techniques in the world. Archaeological finds prove that it was already common practice to apply a type of eye liner in the Stone Age. The raw materials used to produce the cosmetic product were like ticking time bombs. Unlike modern products such as Artdeco's Khol Eye Liner long-lasting, almost anything that was reasonably colourful and adhesive was used: in addition to clarified butter, soot and charcoal, toxic metals and metal compounds were also used. Applying an eyeliner requires a little dexterity and good preparation. For optimum results, prime your eyelid beforehand with a primer or a light-coloured eyeshadow. It is particularly difficult to draw the eyeliner line without any smudges during the first few applications. It is therefore advisable to place small dots on the lash line and then connect them together. Pull the upper eyelid slightly upwards with the finger of the other hand and apply dots or the entire eyeliner line as close to the lash line as possible. After application, keep the eyelid closed for a few seconds to allow the eyeliner to dry. You can then make corrections with a cotton bud and eye make-up remover.
