Jeanne Lanvin, a young milliner, opened her first hat shop in central Paris in 1889. Four years later she relocated to the prestigious Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The little hat shop became the “Lanvin (Mademoiselle Jeanne) Mode” boutique. Jeanne sold hats, her own children’s clothing designs, upmarket ladies collections, lingerie lines and perfumes. Today the store is the oldest couture fashion house in France, and it has now been in continuous operation for more than 130 years. The fashion designer soon realised that perfume is an essential accessory on every woman’s dressing table. The first fragrance was created under the “LANVIN Parfums” label back in 1925.
