The Ordinary's Lactic Acid 5% + HA is a formulation designed as a mild, superficial exfoliant. In this lightweight, water-based serum, 5% lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), meets hyaluronic acid. The formula can help exfoliate the top layer of the skin, helping to create a smoother and more even-looking skin texture. It also contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that is known for its ability to bind water and thus counteract a possible feeling of dryness. Due to its mild concentration, the serum is a good starting point for people who have no previous experience with acid peels. The minimalist formulation is vegan, cruelty-free and deliberately does not contain alcohol, oils or silicones. It should be noted that the use of products with AHAs can increase the skin's sensitivity to the sun, which is why sun protection should be applied consistently during the day.
