Otto Kern came from the Black Forest. He studied law and economics in Frankfurt am Main. However, he was passionate about fashion from an early age. He worked for a well-known men's outfitter. He began designing men's shirts. It wasn't long before the fashion designer was able to commission his first shirt collection. His smart shirts brought him great success. Encouraged by this, he founded his own company in Kaiserslautern in 1970, Otto Kern GmbH & Co. KG in Kaiserslautern in 1970. He later expanded his range to include women's collections and cosmetics. In 2000, the successful fashion designer retired and sold many shares in his company. However, even after his death (2017), his brand's products are still in demand worldwide.
